How to use the wiki

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years ago

Using the wiki may be a new experience for some, so here are a few tips:

The Basics

  • Log on to the wiki using the password

  • If you want to make changes to any of the pages, click on the 'edit page' button at the top of the screen

  • When you are adding information or links to one of the wiki pages, please add your name afterwards in brackets so that the other delegates can see who is contributing.

For example:

I'd analyse the Oldton narrative from the perspective of Ryan's work on possible world theory (added by Ruth Page).

  • To add text, just start typing.

  • To add a link, type the text for the hyperlink first, then highlight, then click on the 'Link' icon in the toolbar, choose what type of link you want to make, insert the URL or name of the wiki page.

  • If you add a new wiki page, please also add it to the side bar.

  • Remember to hit the 'save' button at the bottom of the page or your contributions will be lost.

Troubleshooting

Screen shotIn theory, when you are editing a page, there should be a toolbar with the usual formatting options on the screen. Unsurprisingly it looks somewhat like a Microsoft Word toolbar with a few extra options. The page should look a little like the graphic to the left. Sometimes, however, the wiki can end up in "classic mode". That is a far less user-friendly interaface. If so, simply hit the switch to "point and click mode" link (see the image on the right) and you'll be back in this interface.

If your edit goes horribly wrong, don't worry, you can always cancel. If your edit goes horribly wrong and you accidentally save it, don't worry. An admin person can "roll it back" to the previous state. It's pretty hard to break this wiki.

By the way, this edit was added by Bruce Mason.
